New Art Print Release: Elephants Never Forget

New 4-color, silkscreen printed art print "Elephants Never Forget", click for more details or to purchase from my website.

Hooray! I finally had the chance to print a new art print that I’ve been wanting to do for a long, long time. Introducing our new “Elephants Never Forget” hand pulled silkscreen art print. Sharp-eyed strawberryluna aficionados may recall a similar illustration from a poster for Xiu Xiu from way back in 2006. We still liked these two so much, we brought them back to life in a new hand pulled silkscreen art print.

Freshly available for purchase here at my website and also in my Etsy shop here.

Elephants really don’t forget a thing. And when you’ve found your perfect match, what’s to forget? Fall in love, stay in love. It’s simple!

  • I love elephants.
  • They are amazing and noble creatures.
  • I think they are perfect to symbolize the “forever” part of being in love.

Elephants Never Forget is my 4-color, all hand screenprinted love forever art print with hand mixed Cyan, Magenta and Black inks. Super fun overprinting layers of ink make a soft purple where Magenta & Cyan overlap. Magic! Edition of 200. Size: 16 x22 inches (39.4 cm x 55.9 cm.) Paper: no acid, archival Cougar, White 100lb cover weight.

Additional photos below are from my studio during the hand silkscreen printing process. Click any image below to see more process photos in my Flickr account too.

Oh happy day, ohdeedoh’s piece on our prints!

Click here to read the full post on ohdeedoh!

I woke up to a happy surprise today, the fantastic blog ohdeedoh wrote a really lovely piece on our prints! ohdeedoh is the perfect intersection of home & kid-friendly design, which is a really cool niche, as it insists on being very livable rather than high-concept focus. I love that. We’re just tickled that author  Sarah Rae Trover at ohdeedoh found our work and wrote such a fresh post about us. With the hand silkscreen printing process being so labor intensive (a “simple” 3-color print, edition of 100 takes 6-10 hours to complete), I can’t tell you how refreshing and awesome it is to see that a great blog like ohdeedoh gets it. Thank you so much!

Here is a little snippet for you:

“When it comes to artwork for children’s rooms it can be rare to find actual screen printed pieces that most parents would consider affordable. These 10 items all come in under $25 and are all handmade, layer by layer and color by color.”

With the full post right here, or click on the above image.

All of the featured prints above (and more, of course!) are available at my website here, or click any of the below images to see larger images and more information on my hand silkcreen printed art prints & posters.

New print release: Going To See My Baby Yellow!

New, all hand screenprinted 6-color silkscreen art print Going To See My Baby Yellow available now! (Click for more info or to purchase.)

Spring is finally here! And to match the growing warmth and springy feel, here is a new silkscreen art print release! Going To See My Baby Yellow, a brand new colorway of my super popular art print about bicycles, love and that special glee. You know the feeling.

This hand-pulled & hand screenprinted happy day is a brand new colorway of a very popular print that I did in 2007, but in a super small edition for the Screens’n’Spokes fundraiser, now returned in fresh spring lemony yellow and soft sky-blue, just for you.

Going To See My Baby Yellow is my 6-color, all hand screen printed art print with fresh lemon yellow, bright bike red, dark grey, black and soft transparent sky-baby-blue hand-mixed and non-toxic water based silkscreen inks. And yes! The sky-baby-blue cloud breaks the margin/border just like a good cloud should, and it’s partially transparent over the white margin. Tweet! Edition of 200. Size: 16 x22 inches (39.4 cm x 55.9 cm.) Paper: no acid, archival Cougar, White 100lb cover weight.

For more information about this print, or to purchase, visit my website here or check out my Etsy shop here.

Some of the previous colorways like Baby Blue, Orange, Lavender, and Sage are now all sold out, enabling us to donate to a cause we really have close to our hearts, The National MS Society. And, a portion of the sale of each of these prints is donated to The National MS Society as well .

New poster released: Ingrid Michaelson at The Fillmore, San Francisco

Poster for Ingrid Michaelson at The Fillmore in San Francisco, by strawberryluna. (Click for more info or to purchase.)

Hey smartie-sweetie-cuties, what’s up?

Here is a “new” poster release! I say “new” in “quotes” as the show date was from way back in November of 2010 (that’s like a lifetime ago!), but I didn’t receive my copies of the poster until just a few weeks ago, and somehow posting this little baby up slipped from my to-do list. Apologies!

Onward & upward: We were commissioned by the legendary Fillmore in San Francisco to do a special show poster for Ingrid Michaelson’s show there on 11/1/10 with The Guggenheim Grotto. In the classic Fillmore tradition, they print and give 1,000 copies of the posters created for their shows away at the end of the night to the fans as a big thanks. And this is that poster for Ingrid Michaelson’s show.

And it’s now available for purchase from my website here and also from my Etsy shop here.

More about this poster:

The Fillmore hosted the multi-talented musician, signer / songwriter Ingrid Michaelson, and as their tradition, which dates back to the 1960s, they handed out copies of this poster to the audience at the end of the show. We’re so proud to be a part of this incredible legacy and are tickled to do this poster for The Fillmore & Ingrid Michaelson.

This poster is an offset print, not screenprinted, it was printed by The Fillmore for the show. It’s a 3-color, design with an edition of 1,000. Of that 1,000 given to the fans at the show and to the bands’ members. Artists’ Edition of just 75 posters, each one hand signed & numbered by me, strawberryluna. Size: 13w x 19h inches (33 cm x 48.3 cm). Paper: thick and heavy white stock.

This poster was given away at the show in San Francisco and I have just a portion of the run available (less than 70!) for sale here, so they will go quick!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Did I post this same completely perfect and lovely Charles Schulz cel illustration for the last two years for Thanksgiving? Yes. Why? Because it’s the best silly.

Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving in all of it’s meanings for you.

New art print released: Coffee, Thee & Me – new 4 color edition

New colorway & 2nd edition of my art print "Coffee, Thee & Me", available now! Click to for more info or to purchase from my website.

Mmmmmm, coffee & love & BFFship. There’s little better, right?

Back by popular demand, I’ve got a brand new 2nd edition of my sold out “Coffee, Thee & Me” art print. Now in a new colorway, with 2 metallic inks. Hotcha!

The copper ink on the giraffe and the black ink on the elephant are both metallics, and they have a subtle sparkle and shine to them. The new hand-mixed grey inks for the elephant are also purposely left a little bit rough, so some of the prints have a really nice texture to them too, just like an elephant.

Hot off the press, printed by me by hand and ready for a new home. Mmm. Coffee.

I’ll have some process photos soon (packing for Renegade Chicago today, so it might not be for a few days), and until then? Have another cup. Enjoy!

Coffee, Thee & Me, 2nd ed. is now available on my website by clicking  here and also in my Etsy shop here.

Close ups of the metallic inks on the Giraffe & Elephant:

Metallic copper inks! Good for rendering cups of coffee & giraffes 🙂

Metallic black ink makes an elephants features stand out.

2 new art prints released: Lovebirds & Going To See My Baby Lavender

New 7-color hand screenprinted art print, "Lovebirds" now available. (click for more info or to purchase!)

Ok! This is a quick post as I really should be packing my clothes for Flatstock & SXSW in Austin TX (see this previous post for more info), so I will keep this one short and sweet.

I jammed out two brand new art prints this past weekend in a marathon printing run. 2 days, 8 screens, 13 colors, 1,000+ pulls, 200+ prints =  2 new prints. BOOM!

The first print is above, and it’s called “Lovebirds”. When we were working on our poster for St. Vincent, we started playing around with the flower illustration and found that it made very cute little birdies, we added a heart and ta-da! Lovebirds.

The second new art print is below, and it’s a fresh new colorway of my very popular “Going To See My Baby” print, now in Lavender. I love that lemony cloud action. I have to say as well that it’s kinda funny that both new prints feature hearts and love and romance quite prominently. Spring is here!

New 6-color hand screenprinted art print, "Going To See My Baby Lavender" now available. (click for more info or to purchase!)

It’s been really awesome getting to work out of my new studio space, rockin’ out to music and watching movies too while printing. In fact, I did a little Twitter contest while printing “Lovebirds” and asked if anyone could name the movie that I was watching in the background of a Photoshop mock, and wouldn’t you know it? Someone (@kurometarikku) got it right on the money by identifying “The Great Race” from a terrible screenshot. Amazing! Check out the photo below:

The Great Race in the background. Goofy, yes. But Jack Lemmon never disappoints.

And here are a few process shots of each print, sorry that they are not up on Flickr yet, but they will be next week! Apologies for some of the greyed out light. I do live and work in Pittsburgh, PA afterall. The actual prints are on lovely & crisp white paper 🙂
