New Art Print Release: Poppies

Now that we are fully into the summer, it’s time to introduce our new sun-baked and semi-abstract, small art print, “Poppies”.

Bright, overlapping poppies waving together against a deep sun filled background. Two peas in a pod!

Playing with imaginary nature and abstract shapes is something we love to do. Every now and again a quick experimental sketch becomes something worth playing with further. This art print is based off of the illustration for our new Andrew Bird and Death Cab For Cutie poster, which you can see here.

Please note, this is a digital and giclee archival print (not a silkscreen print)
of an original illustration by strawberryluna. Each print is hand titled and signed.

  • Designed to be flexible and fit beautifully into an 11×14 sized frame with a matte, or you easily trim down the border area so that it can fit or 8.5 x 11 or 8×10 sized standard frame quite easily.
  • Size: Paper size is 9.5 x 12.75 inches (24.13 cm x 32.4 cm). Image size measures 6.5 x 9.5 inches (16.5 cm x 24.1 cm).

“Poppies” is now available in our webshop here and also in our Etsy store here. Ready to go to a new home and brighten your walls! $20

  •  Additional photo below shows how this print might looked framed. (Sold unframed & without a matte.)

New Art Print Release: Seabird

Say hello to our newest silkscreen art print “Seabird” a friendly guide to worlds of air, land, and salty sea.

“Seabird” is inspired by Allison’s lifelong love of the sea and mixed with our fascination for feathered creatures, we think our influences show in this silkscreen art print. Always struck by the regal beauty of seabirds and their amazing 3-environment spanning lives in the air, on the land and in the water, “Seabird” is a silkscreen expression of that admiration.

  • Size: 16 x 22 inches (40.6 cm x 55.9 cm.)
  • Edition: 500, each print is hand numbered, signed and titled.
  • Paper: Archival, no-acid, recycled content, American made Cougar Opaque White, 100lb cover weight.
  • Fits beautifully into either a standard 16″ x 20″ frame by trimming the border, or into an 18″ x 24″ frame as is with a 1″ matte.
  • Each print is hand titled and signed.

“Seabird” is now available for purchase in our webshop here and also in our Etsy Shop here $25.

  • Additional photo below shows how this print might looked framed. (Sold unframed & without a matte.)

New release: Inara George silkscreened gig poster!

Inara George silkscreen poster: 2 color, all hand printed. Click for more info or to purchase.

Brand new releases are always exciting around here. Sure. But I’m *superduperextra* excited this month to share one of the new pieces that we’ve produced for Inara George, of the amazing band The Bird & The Bee, just one of a few new things we’re working on in collaboration with one of our favorite bands around this Fall.

This poster is a two-fer print, in a number of ways. First, this hand silkscreen printed poster covers 2  LA shows for Inara George this Fall on September 23rd at Bootleg Theater in and also at the Getty Center on November 5th with Van Dyke Parks. Second, we’ve used tricky overprints to get 3 bold colors from 2 screens. That’s our way! That’s what we love. We hope that you do too.

Simple, sweet but not always straightforward and deceptively complex. Hand silkscreened poster for 2 shows for the incomparable Inara George of The Bird & The Bee.

Mid-century throwback style always seems fresh, just like the lady herself. This is our all hand silkscreen printed poster for Inara George with hand mixed scarlet red and transparent cyan water-based acrylic screenprinting inks. Edition: 50, each of these limited edition posters are signed & numbered (by me, strawberryluna) Size: 16×22 inches (39.4 cm x 55.9 cm.) Paper: archival Cougar, White 100lb cover weight.

This poster will also be available on tour and at shows with Inara George throughout this fall, and especially her show at The Getty Center on November 5th, as well as also from my website here and also in my Etsy shop here.

Hello there! We’re really excited to finally share a new bit of design work with everyone. We were approached by the powerhouse design blog Design Milk
(huge shout out thanks to lovely Kelly at Design Crush for the recommendation) in May to be a part of their ongoing curated Designer Desktops series. Of course, being a fan of Design Milk for quite sometime I said yes right away.

Jaime, the founder of Design Milk, asked us to choose a design related quote and then work from there to create a suitable exclusive illustration for desktop backgrounds and Apple wallpapers. Preferably something which would also relate to design, naturally. When I came across this gem by Coco Chanel:

“I never wanted to weigh more heavily on a man than a bird.”

I fell in love instantly and we went with it. Read more about the inspiration for these designs here at Design Milk

Our Designer Desktops are FREE and available for download in multiple formats exclusively at Design Milk here for the entire month of July. There are 4 sizes to choose from for standard computer monitors as well as an iPad & an iPhone version too. All especially formatted for perfection, of course! New art print release: Rose Red!

Rose Red, my new 2-color hand pulled silkscreen print.

Rose Red, Dark, sweet, and full of secrets. Rose Red is the 2nd in print in my fairy tale inspired print series, (my now sold out print, The Lady & The Wolf was the first). I’ve been fascinated by, OK possibly addicted to, fairy tales and fables since I was very young. Their allure has yet to lose it’s magic, especially the older versions of fairy tales with darker themes and symbols.

These days, many people know these stories best as tales for children, however many of our most loved fairy tales have much more brutal original tellings than you might imagine something fit for little kids. I read folk & fairy tales obsessively, the darker the roots of the tale, the more I love it. It’s super interesting how the same stories appear in similar versions and places for both children and (especially originally) for adults as well.

Rose Red is my 2-color, all hand silkscreen printed art print using scarlet red and velvety black hand-mixed and non-toxic water based silkscreen inks. And yes! Edition of 200. Size: 16 x22 inches (39.4 cm x 55.9 cm.) Paper: no acid, archival Cougar, White 100lb cover weight. $25

Fresh off my press, hand printed and now available for purchase here at my website and also here in my Etsy shop.

Neato extra! This design is also available as a free iPhone & iPod Touch wallpaper at the super cool Poolga.com right here.

Are you a print nerd too? Check out some process photos from my Flickr account below.

Going To See My Baby Yellow is my 6-color, all hand screen printed art print with fresh lemon yellow, bright bike red, dark grey, black and soft transparent sky-baby-blue hand-mixed and non-toxic water based silkscreen inks. And yes! The sky-baby-blue cloud breaks the margin/border just like a good cloud should, and it’s partially transparent over the white margin. Tweet! Edition of 200. New art print released: Summer Cardinal, the 3rd 2010 Seasons Print

4 color, all hand screenprinted art print "Summer Cardinal". (click for more info or to purchase)

Huzzah! It’s summer, fully. The 2nd of 3 new releases today, this is my Summer Cardinal art print. And I have to be honest, it’s been done printed, cut, and ready to fly home since the first day of summer. Mea culpa on the slow to blog it here (in)action.

But, summer is all about being laid back right? Right. Sweet.

Quick story about this print. It was originally designed as a 5-color print, with a transparent metallic gold ink as the last layer. Somehow in my head, rather than expecting the metallic gold to work as a true transparent ink and blend with the pink base/1st color to make a new color (in this case, a peachy coral), I thought that it would sit on top. Essentially making a misty soft metallic gold overlay all subtly sparkly.

Yeah….no. Nope. (See last photo below.) I pulled two prints and decided to stop there, making this a 4 color print.

That’s screenprinting!

Summer Cardinal is a part of my new Seasons series. This is the seventh print in series of seasonal prints that I’ll be releasing. Ready? Here’s the mind-blowing part = there will be 4 per year. Crazy, right?

This year for the Seasons series, in 2010 I am doing things a little differently, rather than making a new image for each season, I’ve decided to follow the same bright red fellow in the same scene, across all 4 seasons. And here for Summer Cardinal, in honor of the softer, breezier and warmer life of summer, our little red fellow is enjoying the gathering sunset of a lovely night ahead in twilight pinks.

Summer Cardinal is my 4-color, all hand screenprinted art print with tender summer night pink, bark brown, scarlet red, fresh-leaf green hand mixed and non-toxic water based inks. All prints are hand signed and titled. Edition of 500. Size: 16 x22 inches (39.4 cm x 55.9 cm.) Paper: archival Cougar, White 100lb cover weight. $25.

This print is ready to fly home with you and available for purchase here at my website now!
